Expert Class Stakeholder management

Expert Class Stakeholder management

Changes to the healthcare systems over the last few years have made market access, pricing and reimbursement critical in driving prescriptions and ultimately sales revenue. In addition to structural changes in the healthcare systems, the dynamics of patients, healthcare policy makers and payer behaviour have altered significantly. The environment is becoming more complex, with a significant shift in the relative importance and roles of key stakeholder groups. As a result, effective stakeholder management has become one of the most critical elements in determining the future success of a pharmaceutical organisation.

In this expert class representatives from several life sciences companies will share their experiences in the field of stakeholders management. Which internal and external stakeholders are there and how will they impact the success of your company. Which strategy could be applied for each stakeholder group like patient advocacy, investors, reimbursement organisations, regulatory organisations, healthcare professionals and employees.

The expert class program is set up in an interactive way such that the participants have also the possibility to bring their own questions and discuss issues they encounter in their own (start-up) company and/or business case. The expert class will also give the possibility to broaden the participants network.

We believe it’s urgent to deliver medical solutions right now – even as we develop innovations for the future. We are passionate about transforming patients’ lives. We are courageous in both decision and action. And we believe that good business means a better world.

Next to excellent science, a strong business plan and a good team it is crucial for an entrepreneur to have knowledge about the company's stakeholders. Especially in the Life Sciences sector where companies operate on the edge of promises, strong emotions and regulatory hurdles. Jan Wisse will talk about the role of the media in the Life Sciences sector, not only important for big Pharma but also for starting companies.

15.00 hrs. Timen van Haaster, Public Affairs Manager at HollandBIO
The mission of HollandBIO, the Dutch biotech industry association, is to maximize the contribution of biotech innovations to our society’s health and sustainability. We represent, support and connect an active, privately funded, and rapidly growing community of more than 220 member companies.

In the knowledge and capital intensive biotech sector, efforts by entrepreneurs and startups are commonly and logically directed into developing a successful product as fast and good as possible. Stakeholder management however, is at the heart of everything we do and crucial for realising ambitions and goals. It is about taking along teams and colleagues, it is in the way we involve (potential) investors and partners, and in managing mutual expectations when it comes societal partners – whether it is regulators, politicians, governments, media or NGOs. In his presentation, Timen will go into the importance of stakeholder management, some cases and examples that highlight this point and the role HollandBIO plays in this field as a sector representative.

15.45 hrs. Harrold van Barlingen, Managing Partner at Thuja Capital
Thuja Capital is an early-stage venture capital firm located in Utrecht, The Netherlands. We invest in product focused companies that aim to have true impact for patients and doctors alike, as demonstrated in clinical studies to enable a health claim.
